SPENCER RACING

Welcome!
You have just entered the Spencer Racing Jr. Dragster website. Hope you enjoy. The Castrol GTX Jr. Dragracing League started in 1992 and has grown by leaps and bounds since its humble beginnings. A jr. dragster is basicly a 1/2 scale version of its big brother the full sized dragster. The powerplant starts life as a 5hp briggs & stratton and can be bored and stroked to unreal proportions. The fuel of choice is methanol although gasoline can be used. Sorry, no NOS or nitro in these. The E.T.'s for these cars varies from roughly 15 seconds to 7.90 seconds in the 1/8 mile. The drivers vary in age from 8-17 years old.

Driver info.
Hello my name is Derek Spencer, I am thirteen and will turn fourteen on May 20th. I live in West Memphis Arkansas. I am in eighth grade and am home schooled. I hope to attend college and major in graphic design. I enjoy racing my jr. dragster, bike riding, drawing, hanging out with my friends at the track as well as in my neighborhood. This is my third year driving a jr. dragster. In 2001 I placed third in points at my home track of Memphis Motorsports Park. I also brought home three win trophies, two runner ups and two semi-finalist trophies.

Our Car.
Our car is a 2000 model Quick-Kids Ultra-Flex. The engine is a .500 stroked x .174 bored blockzilla with a 32mm flatslide mikuni. We have a Polar clutch to transfer the power to the rear slicks, which are M/T M-1s. The fastest pass to date is 8.70 @ 75.12 mph.

Getting Started in racing Jr. Dragsters.
I as the parent of a racer would like to first say that getting my son Derek started in jr dragsters was one of the best decisions I have ever made. If you would like to get started do some research first. Check out the links I have listed. Go into the discussion boards and register and ask questions. Go to the track and watch the cars run. Ask parents of the racers questions, I have found that most are very happy to discuss their hobby and give information to promote the sport.
